It all began in 1989 when Fabrizio and Ines decided to open a health food
shop with a small icecream and confectionary laboratory, from this innovative
experience in commerce, grew the idea to produce and package organic
icecream to be sold in organic food and health food shops.
So in 1991 La Via Lattea became the first company in Italy to produce organic 
icecream, using exclusively organic ingredients certified by authorized 
international institutions. After a close look at the market in Italy and after 
continuous requests for a product prepared without milk and sugar, the 
production was divided into two distinct trademarks;
NaturICE: Certified organic icecream made with fresh milk and cane sugar.
SoiaICE: 100% vegeterian icecream made with soia and fructose
After two years of directdistribution in the retail market La Via Lattea 
created a network of distributing agents in the major cities of Italy. 
In 1994 a catering line of products introduced, aimed at high quality 
restaurants, the catering line was initially sorbets already produced with the
NaturICE trademark, then the line of products was extended to a variety 
of sorbets and icecream unique in quality and creativity of flavours. All this
was happening in a small laboratory in the Sabine hills not far from Rome,
where the whole family of La Via Lattea worked. In 1998 the company
moved to new premises, still in the same village of Casperia, increasing
and improving the production line but maintaining their conciousness
for a clean planet with a constant search for quality control in production.
